Blogroll Maintenance

June 25th, 2009 by dave

Since the automated posting came back, that gave me a new burst of energy for this sadly neglected Grand Strand Bloggers site. I did a little maintenance on the blogroll, verifying I had all the links people mailed me in there. I’ve added the Palomares Family and Bobby Altman but removed Killer Robot Clan with regrets, since they recently moved to Columbia. With the automated posting thing I have to remember to add or subtract blogs in two places. If I can figured out how to get that down to one, I’d be awfully happy.

If you find any other Grand Strand area bloggers, please let me know either by leaving a comment here or emailing me. Don’t spend all your time at the beach, take a few minutes to blog about it!

Automated Roundups Return!

June 24th, 2009 by dave

I recently upgraded this and all my Wordpress installations to version 2.8. When I did, the plugin that does the automatic updates suddenly started working again! I didn’t know that would happen but I’m delighted about it. The first time I thought it might be a fluke, with one scheduled update in the queue that just fired. When it happened again this morning and even did the update only from the point where the previous one stopped, I got really happy. I had a script that was doing them, but I had to go and remember to invoke it manually which I often forgot to do. Now this should happen early every morning, like clockwork.

Life is good, my friends. Life is good. The automated updates are not as chatty and personal as the ones assembled by a person, but they happen. I’m glad about that. We’re all busy, so in this particular case I’m happy to let the robots work for us. It’s like a Roomba for the blog.
