New Blog Roundup Procedures

It doesn’t take a deep introspection of the site to realize that the Grand Strand Blog Roundups have been struggling. The last one happened on June 23rd. Everyone seems to love them but they are really labor intensive to produce and the longer it goes after a roundup the more work it is. For myself, I’m now putting a few new rules on how I handle my roundups.

Some of the blogs we have in the blogroll are not strictly speaking, blogs. They aren’t produced with any of the standard blogging software so that means they may not have RSS feeds or permanent links for entries. Although I’m not taking anything out of the blogroll in the sidebar, I’m also not going to be including in the blog roundups any blogs that don’t have RSS feeds. If I can’t find it in Google Reader, it’s not going in my roundups. Anyone else doing a roundup is free to do their own thing, but that’s the only way I can make it work. I’m also shooting for more frequent smaller roundups, like maybe for three or four posts at a time instead of huge ones. That might help them happen more.

And don’t forget, anyone can do these roundups. Ask more for an account, I’ll hook you up.
